The city was abuzz with excitement in March 2008 when the Singapore Flyer, a 165-meter (541-foot) observation wheel, opened to the public in Marina Bay. The first — and only — one of its kind in Asia, it boasts panoramic views of Singapore and beyond from its 28 giant capsules. Each ride takes 30 minutes, and a trip at sunset, when the marina and skyline are richly bathed in the warm dusk colors, is particularly stunning.
